Lagomorpha - rabbits, hares, pikas

RabbitThere are about 93 species in this order. They are native species in all in all parts of the world, except for Australia and Antarctica. They are found in a variety of habitats including deserts, forests, the tundra, swamps, and grasslands. Lagomorphs are herbivores.

Lagomorphs have large, sharp edged incisors that grow continuously from the root. They use their incisors to cut plant stems and gnaw on bark.

Rabbits and hares have long ears, short tails, and powerful rear legs that they use to hop and jump. Pikas have short, round ears; no tails; and short rear legs.
