Rhinobatidae - guitarfishes

guitar fishThere are around 45 species in this family. Most species are found in warm waters in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. Guitarfish look like a cross between a shark and a skate! The have a shark-like lower body and a skate-like upper body. They have two dorsal fins, well-developed caudal fins, and skate-like pectoral fins. They eat small fish, mollusks, and crustaceans. Guitarfish are sometimes called shovelnose sharks
